“Get rid of PSLE, get rid of streaming. Let the child go into school at Primary 1 and enjoy learning all the way through to the entrance exams into university. I think that will be a major transformation for parenting in Singapore.”

"In PSLE 2011, TLL (The Learning Lab) groomed almost a mind-boggling one-half of the top ranking students in the entire country! This included a clean sweep of the first, second and third students overall. No school I know in the private or public sector has delivered such impressive results!"

Do you think we should scrap PSLE? Yes or No? Frankly when the Late Goh Keng Swee implemented streaming PSLE that was due to the fact he encountered many hokkien soldiers who are 18 in NS and not understanding simple command of english. I think the intention then was good to lift the level of literacy and english communication when most kids were from kampung then. However this system has been tweaked overtime producing top students year after year but we forgot what happens to most of us average and below average. How about those who don't even make it. A kid at 11 or 12 years of age should not be subjected to the STRESS of streaming. I need to qualify that streaming in my opininon is good by itself to technically divide kids according to their learning progression. However the STRESS of PSLE is horrible and I dread going thru this if i can turn back the time.
our examination scheme is traditionally adopted under the Cambridge examinations, therefore I ask you do you AYE with me as with those Westministers?
Maybe more young parents must be better motivated to steer this
