The difference between what is right for one person and what is right for society is paradoxical. It is what logicians call the fallacy of composition. What is true for a part is not true for the whole. If you drive to work 10 minutes early, you might avoid traffic. If everyone drives to work 10 minutes early, the traffic jam will happen 10 minutes earlier.
