my simple thoughts on economy growth - stephenkhoo - 06-24-2012 11:40 AM here excerpt from today 24th June ST I tend to agree with the optimism of Singapore economy being more resilient and transforming from a low cost manufacturing based export economy to one that is service related. In layman terms its simply not putting all your eggs in one basket but a different weightage. Does this mean we will not achieve close to double digit growth during good times when trade is up? Maybe the rationale for this will be a safe bet for out next generation. It is true inflation is taking a toll on every household especially low and middle income, it is more true that senior folks are now more burdened with finances especially those with medical conditions. Economics has always been a dry topic for me although it affects every person in society directly and indirectly, anyway I am not going into details. Basically my wishlist are few folds, development of economy is closely intertwined with education and skilled labour. This has to go along with building a more compassionate and caring society more focused and motivated by the governments inclusiveness. It is unlikely any society is able to achieve eden due to the nature of human complexity but certainly a better future than now is what we all look forward to.
