How I chose my name Stephen and how I journey in my faith
Ok, this is going to be long winded and I may be repeating it to those who already know my story how I became a catholic. Maybe to start with, why did I choose Stephen or Stefan or Estefan. For the record, Stephen is pronounced as Steven of course you can call me Steve. Well I was given few choices like Matthew, Mark, Stephen, Noel, Albert, Alfred and few others. Then I looked up the saints name and found Feast day for 26th is St Stephen and me being born on this day meant it is a simple decision. Then I was asked to choose Matthew, Peter, Noel, Mark etc and I was again divided. So I told myself within the week before submission to RCIA for my baptism name I must choose and make a decision. Then I said, maybe just let it be. So I walked to the adoration room one day and I met this guy, old guy he came to me and stopped me and asked me what is my name? Errr okay, I said Khoo Yoong Fhong, so he was like do you have a christian name? Then I said well I am supposed to be baptised in June 2001 and I have to choose and name. Then his reply was, choose Stephen! My eyes nearly poped out and I was like why Stephen? he said because he is also called Stephen! So I decided since I was at church and out of the 4 plus million people in Singapore and the 7% of 4 million which is about 200000 brothers and sisters in Christ, this guy actually came up to me and said choose Stephen! So I decided I had better use Stephen!

Now it is call me Stephen or Stephen Khoo or SK!

Thanks be to God for my baptism name.
