Billions of dollars are spent on the quest to map out the human genome. At its fundamental, it is man search for longevity. Longevity is in the realm of knowledge, God forbade adam and eve to peer into the book of life which is immortality. He allowed them to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge however bitter.

In my opinion the simple reason is evil starts with a seed in the heart. That is why jesus says do not look here or there but within, evil starts within. The recess of the heart can only be touched by god and only he alone can heal. At the end of our journey on earth, only death can truly free our souls from the mortal sins of our bodies. Immortality can only happen when god receives our souls therefore we need to be in a state of grace and seek his will. It is not an easy journey because we alone will be unable to trough the terrain. Only with christ and the holy spirit, then the journey will be light and burden lifted. That is also why jesus promise us trust in him always as his yoke is easy and burden light. That is why we must accept he died on the cross with his mortal body but he rose again with majesty and glory on easter! This I believe is what he promises us so we must always surrender and seek his will and graces inch by inch. Like jesus we must rise to new life in easter even if its just an inch!
