are we outwitting smartphones or are we outwitted
I just attended the ptm parent teacher meeting and totally astonished with the amount of extra cca and project work for p4. Even with the advent of IT and internet i am starting to wonder if using too much infocomm and less manual methods like pen paper is beneficial?look ard you, everyone is just squinting their eyeris at a 3 x 6 screen, have we reduced the beauty of the natural world to a mere smartphone screen? The phone is smart but are we getting any smarter?
FK she loves james lee mr mystery and mr midnite, when i was her age i read all of alfred hitcock then moved on to issac asimov and sidney sheldon of course i didnt miss out on jackie collins One holding other steering! Maybe there will be artificial intelligence embedded so smart devices have emotions like humans which might not be a bad thing afterall conclusion from ptm is, there will be never a stress free learning environment in sg despite moe advocating holistic, IT enrichment tools etc this is evident when you meet the teachers n parents, its just the competitive streak and mentality. Stress is everywhere, it is how you manage, some stress in my opinion is healthy like if im too unhealthy the doc is stressing me out with those to do and weight reduction routine, some unhealthy stress is like giving loads of homework.education is not just practising past papers,it is and must be a habit of life.to put it bluntly, the best education is lifelong learning so as to be addicted and habitual which you can only build it over time by cultivating interest, its not magic and wont happen overnight or in a month. Unfortunately cultivating interest cannot be mooted within our schools rigid structure hence it must be done at home thru active reading and this is what is lacking until today.the only way to master education and knowledge is to read with or without wits. |
