This happened on 2nd December after I posted the article about crowded airspace A cargo aircraft veered off a runway at Changi Airport after landing on Friday afternoon, resulting in the closure of the runway and disruption to flights. "Some flights at Changi Airport were affected and a number opted to be diverted to other airports, including Paya Lebar Air Base," said the Chang Airport Group in a statement carried online by the Today newspaper. Other planes chose to land in Johor and Kuala Lumpur, reported Channel NewsAsia (CNA), which also said the aircraft in question was a Singapore Airlines cargo plane. There were no injuries or damage to the aircraft, which had been able to taxi on its own to the parking bay. The airway was closed for inspection at 4:40pm and reopened at about 6pm, according to the statement. SIA Cargo told the broadcaster it would assist in investigations. As of 8:30pm, the five Singapore Airlines and SilkAir planes that landed at Paya Lebar Air Base were still at the air base, said CNA. .. |
