Today I attended the Family Mass at CHIJ Katong as it is Day of Ascension. I like to share that the priest said something very interesting today, he mentioned that he was told by his La Salle brothers during his days that in a canoe or boat you need 2 paddles or if you have 1 paddle you need to work both sides to steer in the right direction.

What it means is, if you just pray and do nothing you go in circle. similar to paddling just one side.

However if you pray and work/study then you achieve distance and move forward. You need to paddle both sides or use 2 paddle ie effort must be done. So prayer and work/study must be together in his homily today.

Simple logic to explain to kids even adults.
