the market in SG is saturated and though it is competitive there is also room for value added services up the chain. you can also see a simple example of succes in critical mass market segment especially in malls such as NEX or PS or the new JEM. On other hand, there is growth in most sectors as govt is supporting SME with IE and Spring initiatives. I dont know but it seems more growth will follow despite the recent round of currency devaluation in the region. In the end, some win some lose but business have to always remodel itself and move with the tide. Look at blackberry and nokia 2 giants which have been overtaken by Apple and Samsung.
