Redifussion going down memory lane
Do you remember Redifussion in the 70s and 80s? I remember when I was a kid coming home from school back in the 70 and 80s I will head to the kitchen for my sumptuous dinner cooked by my granny. Well there in the little corner at the side was a little brown box called Redifussion and it came with just a volumn knob and a dedicated wire. Amazingly this was about 35 years ago and I grew up with this era and was a significant part of my childhood.

I always remembered the story telling in dialects either in Hokkien or Cantonese, then they had a chinese TCM program in mandarin. During the 70s and early 80s you can still hear distinct dialects being broadcast in commercial tv and radio. Then came the speak mandarin campaign to make everyone speak one language and discourage dialects. Sometimes I feel its a double edge sword... now the youngster hardly know any dialects. Is this good or bad? I leave it to you.

For now, let me relieve those beautiful memories of Kampong Bahru and Bukit Merah where I enjoyed listening and feasting on Ah Ma's great food. Such were nostalgic momemts that will stick with me for a long time.
