Gifted Program
In all fairness, writing an article and implementing a policy is different from the other end being a parent or a kid who is barely 10 and has no idea what it means to not do well in exams. Life is a ever learning process, time move with life and everything comes to pass. Are we on the right track to learn for building a better character who can contribute to society and family or are we just producing aces in examinations. If you have a chance you should watch the movie Red Tails, it speaks about White Pilots vs Black Pilots during WWII. Apparently Black Pilots were given 'hand me down' planes and they were kind of like reserved squadrons only participating in back and not frontline ops. Despite that and the biased attitude they stood their ground and proved their worth.
Isn't it time for MOE to look into genuine and concrete ways to lift up children who are avg and below avg and target programs for them to bring the best in them? Maybe I am just wishful thinking but to be at the forefront of world economy in the next 30 to 50 years is not just sheer manual and cheap labour but strong doses of intellectual from Arts, Dance, Science, Sports and the list goes on...... the world is changing as affluence and middle class rises in the lesser developed economies.

Of course we have to tackle aging and birth rates. These are different support pillars the govt need to build.
